1999:

Called in to take over networking issues that prior consultants were unable to solve.

After purchasing two competitors, the client was required to maintain connections to the internet and required by vendors have direct WAN connections to 3 third-party vendor networks.

Client had a complex routing issue consisting of multiple Cisco routers, multiple digital lines, managed switches, fiber repeaters, a satellite connection, and the local network.

Each network was on a completely separate IP space. All vendor networks were supposed to be accessible from specified client computers AND the three of the networks required both forward AND reverse NAT. Setup core Cisco Router and added 5-NIC Linux firewall. By being able to view low-level packet data with the Linux firewall I was able to quickly solve the routing, networking and security issues required to get all networks working allowing client to integrate competitors quickly and seamlessly into existing system.
